Top Ten Tuesday | Bingeworthy TV Shows

Hey, everyone!

I can’t believe it’s the first week of September. August flew past far too quickly for me. Don’t you agree? And I’m still trying to catch up on liking and commenting on other posts since I was too busy to do so. I feel so neglectful!

For this week’s topic, we get to discuss our favourite binge-worthy TV shows and/or movies we watch when we aren’t busy reading. Surprisingly, I rather enjoyed this topic. So for my picks, I wanted to have a good blend of book-related and non-book-related shows. Not every adaptation will be great. However, some have surpassed its original source. So my choices below are my top eight favourite shows.

I hope you enjoy!

Outlander

I’ve basically given up on the books. I don’t have time to read 700+ books anymore. However, my love for the show hasn’t changed at all. Both Sam and Caitriona are one of the best up-and-coming actors. And I love how they explore the world the author has built. They both bring their own take of the characters and make them their own.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Clearly, this show is an add-on to my list (thank you, Sara, for reminding me 😂). But how can this list be complete without Buffy?! It can’t. This show made me who I am today. It is one of the reasons why I love fantasy and why I keep going back to that genre.

Supernatural

How could I forget my favourite show?! We’re currently coming up to season 14, and I still don’t know how long this show has lasted. I’ve seen my four smol cinnamon rolls (Sam, Dean, Cas, and Crowley) die, and I’m not sure if the new season may give me heart palpitations or not. Supernatural is a show that continues to surprise me even if it’s showed its fans everything.

The Strain

I haven’t loved a vampire show in such a long time. By the end, The Vampire Diaries disappointed me. And don’t get me started on The Originals, which had the worst ending I’ve seen in years. But the Strain has stayed consistent throughout its entire three-series run. And it hasn’t lost its gore either. I still get shivers when I see the vampire’s tongue sucker.

The Magicians

Probably one of my favourite series is the Magicians. I haven’t read the series yet, and I don’t plan to. However, I’ve never thought I’d love the show this much. The reviews for the series made me hesitant until I binge-watched the first season. Snark, sass, sarcasm, and huge doses of magic will wheel you in from the first episode. I cannot recommend this show enough. I would die for Julia, Margo, and Eliot.

9-1-1

In one sitting, I binge-watched half this series. I couldn’t get enough of watching this action-packed show. Each character brings a new arc that’s interesting. And they come together as a family so they can save lives.

How to Get Away with Murder

I don’t know how I still watch this show even when it confuses the hell out of me. And yet, I still come back, screaming for more. I’m a sucker for a great mystery. And the show constantly keeps me on the edge of my seat. I cannot wait for the next season.

The Gifted

Did I have any, ANY, faith in a new Marvel show? No. Nuh huh. So I had zero expectations coming into this series. And I hate every second I doubted the show. The first season was short. However, it sucks you in so quickly that you don’t have time to question anything else. I didn’t realize I loved watching The Gifted until the finale came. I will always love the X-Men. But this show may top most of the X-Men movies.

  1. Oh the Strain was quite good indeed!

I watched 3 seasons of How to Get Away with Murder, and by the end of s3 i was not sure whether i still liked it. It got kinda weird at that season.

  2. My former teenaged self is so thrilled at every mention of Buffy this week. That show was my everything in high school and I’m so glad to see the fanbase representing this week! Loved your list and really need to get on The Magicians asap because I’m seeing that everywhere too!

  3. Oh my skies, BUFFY. Now that’s nostalgia on a screen for sure! I still remember how I was completely smitten with Spike, haha! Oh, and Angel. Although I do like the actor way better in Bones.

I should restart Supernatural, to be fair.. It’s been years since I watched an episode. The only thing I remember is “Sam”, “Dean” and “that angel” so.. yup..

  4. Yess to Outlander and HTGAWM!! It’s relatable how you’ve given up on the Outlander books, I’m still holding onto some hope I’ll continue the series so I’ve only watched season 1 so far and it’s been torture not to watch the rest!
