Blogoween | Films I Love Watching in October

Morning, book fam!

I am thrilled to do my very first Blogoween post! So I’m not surprised that I want to start off my week-long adventure with my favourite Halloween films. I love many titles, but some have rightfully earned their place on my must-watch list.

So without much ado, here are the top five films I love watching in October/for Halloween!

The Nightmare before Christmas

There has never been a movie that has more meaning than this one. naturally, the Pumpkin King holds a special place in my heart. And I simply cannot celebrate Halloween (or Christmas) until I watch Tim Burton’s masterpiece.

Oddly enough, I hate musicals, and yet my one of my favourite movies is one.

Sleepy Hollow

Yes, I am a big Tim Burton fan. And yes, I was one before he got popular and hip. But I’ll always love Sleepy Hollow. I’ve read the book and watched all the adaptations. But the way Burton spins this well-told tale is what makes me love it all the more.

Hocus Pocus

The Sanderson sisters, the black flame candle, Max and Dani, Binx, and Billy are what make this movie iconic. I’ve watched Hocus Pocus countless times, but this flick never gets old. I love watching Hocus Pocus!

The Conjuring

I’ve watched scary and cute. But the Conjuring has caused sheer terror in me. Since I watched Scream, most horror movies haven’t frightened me. But when this one came onto the scene, I never knew my heart could jump out of my chest, especially with Bathsheba Sherman (the poltergeist) and Annabelle.

I hate poltergeist flicks. They freak me out more than any other title. But I still question my sanity when I watch this.

The Cabin in the Woods

Joss Whedon brings a new twist to the horror genre. I didn’t have a lot of hope for the movie because I wasn’t sure if Whedon could live up to my high expectations for a horror movie. But he takes this one to a different level by bringing comedy and insanity to the movie. I love it!

So which films get you into the Halloween mood? Do you see your favourites above? Which ones freak you out, which ones you can’t watch, and which ones you can’t get enough of? Let’s chat!

[I'm not even going to expand on that.]

I absolutely love Tim Burton. I went to an expo with a ton of his work, sketches and stuff and.. it was magical. I actually bought a book [original price being €150] with all of his work because I couldn't resist. Okay, scratch that. I acted as if I didn't want to buy the book because my boyfriend told me, at the start of the day, I wasn't allowed to buy books and then HE ended up buying it because he wanted it himself and was disappointed I wasn't going to buy it. Win for me cause that saved me a ton of money? 😛
We also agreed we're going to try and watch EVERY Tim Burton movie out there starting next year and I'm really looking forward to that. Especially since we plan on buying our favorites on dvd / bluray so we'll end up with a nice Burton-collection too, haha.

As for.. other movies.. I don't know. I'm a wuss and avoid horror movies at all costs. I sometimes TRY watching horror, but end up hiding behind a pillow the moment it gets remotely scary so.. yeah.. :')

    [End of Burton-focused comment. xD]

    • Yessss 💜 I would have freaked if I got it. No one would touch it, except me 😂

I’ve watched most of them, but I’d love to do a marathon!

LOL I get what you mean. I had a Final Destination marathon, and I was getting so creeped out by the movies.

      • I haven’t even unwrapped the book and opened it yet because I want it to be PERFECT and it has to survive a move so.. all wrapping is welcome, haha!

Oh jeez. I think I watched one of those movies and I had a very bad case of “what if”-scenarios running through my head the entire time afterwards. :’)
