Morning, bloggers!
You all never cease to amaze me. Every time I get a nomination, I wonder what I’ve done to deserve it. Kaleena from Reader Voracious nominated me. Kaleena, you’ve made a tough month much more happier. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Right now, she deserves just the same recognition. So head over to her blog!
The Rules
- Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
- Write a post to show your award.
- Give a brief story of how your blog started.
- Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
- Select 15 other bloggers that you want to give this award to.
- Comment on each blog to let them know you have nominated them and provide the link to the post you created.
How Novelties Blog Started
You never know how similar you are to people until you read their story. Like Kaleena, I blogged when I went through my goth stage (frankly, I haven’t left it; I just dress with a bit more colour). Through MSN Messagener, I usually wrote about my thoughts and posted stories or poems. And I’ve run several blogs, but they never stuck around. Writing turned from a course I loved and excelled in to a solace and freedom I never knew I’d find in my life.
With Novelties, I hesitated in creating it because I knew how much work I’d need to put into it. But my friend and fellow blogger Dana encouraged me to take the plunge. At first, I simply wanted to get experience for school, but my blog has turned into something more. The bloggers and the blogging community inspire me to grow my little blog and keep me coming back.
Blogging Advice
I’d like to give three pieces of advice.
- Take risks. Talk about the difficult subjects. You don’t always need to post reviews or tags. Discuss what is on your mind, what other bloggers are talking about. But never let yourself put doubt in what you want to write. If you want to talk about diversity, then do it. If you want to talk about problematic authors, even ones you like, then publish that post. The blog is yours. You take the chances.
- If you want to start blogging full-time, start planning your week and month out. Planning is your friend. And it’ll save your backside if you run into a situation.
- Blog hopping is just as important as consistent blogging. Interaction will help you grow as a blogger. But it also gives you the opportunity to find other like-minded bloggers. I have found many bloggers who I see as friends. And I never would have found them unless I started to interact with others.
Bloggers I Nominate
These 15 bloggers keep me blogging. They are the reason why I’m still here. And I can’t help but be thankful to have them in my life.

I agree with bloghopping. It can get to be a lot sometimes trying to keep up but, like you, I’ve found some pretty cool bloggers to connect with that way. I may not do it as often as I’d like but it’s definitely worth the effort.

Completely agree with all the advice you're giving by the way. Although planning is pretty much necessary.. no matter if you blog full time or part time, haha.
