Spring Cleaning Book Tag

Morning, bloggers!

I’m not going to use my wide array of cliche spring sayings. But I’m glad for a new start, which we all need.

I found this tag on Kalina Reads. I’ve known Kalina for quite some time, and she never stops surprising me with her work. So please give her all the love and the support she deserves before you get to my post.

The struggle of getting started | a book or series you struggle to begin because of its size

I have always wanted to tackle Martin’s epic fantasy. But I’ve seen the mmpb, and all I see is pain, misery, and horrible wrist pain. I don’t know how I can possibly finish a 1,000-page book within a week. Perhaps if I didn’t function, then I might reach my goal. But still.

Cleaning out the closet | a book or series you want to unhaul

This choice pains my little dark heart. But I feel like I need to let go of these series. I understand the author’s story is the author’s work. Sometimes though, the changes said writer chooses doesn’t make any logical sense. And frankly, not resolving unfinished storylines when the series is over or rooting for the readers’ OTP for years but destroy anyways doesn’t sit well with me as a reader.

Opening windows and letting fresh air in | a book that was refreshing

Give me cuss words, flawed, and mentally ill main characters any day. I mean it. ANY. DAY. I want and need more of these kinds of books in my life.

Washing out the sheets | a scene you wish you could rewrite

The cheating scene. I don’t know why authors use it or blame it on magic. Just stop, please.

Throwing out unnecessary knick-knacks | a book in a series you didn’t think was necessary

I wanted to see what the hype was about with Sam. And while I loved his storyline and got to understand how Aelin survived and suffered, some of the stories in the collection didn’t add to the overall series.

Polishing doorknobs | a book that had a clean finish

I’m not a fan of standalone novels. I prefer to invest my time in a series. However, Ami somehow takes a multitude of stories and wraps them up so eloquently into one.

Reaching to dust the fan | a book that tried too hard to relay a certain message

If written correctly, a love triangle trope can add some conflict to a series. At first, I loved how Kelley put her own spin on it. However, I just wish Olivia didn’t bounce from one male love interest to the next.

The tiring yet satisfying finish | a series that was tiring but satisfying to get through

I have so many unfinished series I’m reading that I don’t know which ones I have completed. Even if I didn’t enjoy the finale as much as I hoped, I love how Marie made a multi-dimensional series.

  1. Yeah I wanted to start the GoT books, but they’re just so massive. Honour Among Thieves was a book I was really excited for but somehow I just haven’t gotten to it yet. I also haven’t gotten to Wildcard but I am planning to do that soon! Thanks for the tag!
