The Book Addiction Tag

Is it truly Monday?

Please don’t tell me I’m the only person who forget Easter is this week. I completely forgot about it. Okay, I don’t celebrate it. And sure, I get a four-day weekend, but it slipped my mind. 😅 Oops.

I found this tag on Bibliophagist. I cannot stop recommending this blog. Sara is on the top of my blogger list. I love her. So head over to her blog to see what she’s posted lately. Have fun!

What Is the Longest Amount of Time You Can Comfortably Go without Picking Up a Book?

Typically, if I’m not in a slump, I can do a few hours or a little less than a day. If I’m in one, which I might now right, I’ll take a few days. I don’t feel comfortable without a book in my hands.

How Many Books Do You Carry on Your Person (or Kindle) at Any One Time?

I don’t like wasting time waiting for an appointment. So I’ll take one or two books if I’m almost finished the first. But I worry about damaging my books, so I don’t always bring one. And I rarely bring my Kobo. It’s too bloody expensive to lose.

Do You Keep Every Book You Buy/Receive or Are You Happy to Pass Them on to Make Space for More?

I’ve kept 99 percent of all my books, but I’m looking to free up some room so my books aren’t stacking up everywhere. I swear I need another room for my library.

How Long Would You Spend in a Bookshop on a Standard Visit?

Oh, this question is dangerous. I can easily spend several hours in a bookstore. I can get lost in one. I can go from one aisle to the next and pick up the same book many times.

How Much Time Per Day Do You Actually Spend Reading?

I get antsy if I don’t spend any time reading. I usually give myself a few hours per day.

Where Does the Task ‘Picking up a Book’ Appear on Your Daily to-Do List?

It used to be in my top three daily tasks. But it has bumped down my list quite a bit. But I try to squeeze it in when I have some free time.

How Many Books Do You Reckon You Own in Total (Including Ebooks)?

Well over 200 physical copies. I don’t own a lot of ebooks though. I prefer the connection you get while holding a book. I wish I had more room for all my copies.

Approximately How Often Do You Bring Up Books in Conversation?

Today, I brought them up at least three times. But I can easily go days without discussing them with my friends or family. Now with work, I talk about them constantly.

What Is the Biggest Book (Page Count) You Have Finished Reading?

I believe Voyager in the Outlander series may be the longest book I’ve ever finished. I still need to read Kingdom of Ash and the Queen of Air and Darkness.

Is There a Book You Had to Get Your Hands on Against All Odds (i.e., Searching Bookshops, Online Digging, Etc)?

Maybe the Aurora Rising might be the first book in a while where I wanted to find the right copy.

A Book You Struggled to Finish but Refused to DNF?

I had a difficult time reading Jay Kristoff’s Lifel1k3. But I’m proud to say it’s one of my favourite reads, and I can’t imagine DNFing it.

What Are Three of Your Main Book Goals for 2019?

  1. Finish my Goodreads Challenge, even though I’m two books behind it.
  2. Complete most of the series I’ve pushed off reading.
  3. Build my library.

Have You Ever Had the Privilege of Converting Someone into a Reader (Maybe via Inspiration or Incessant Nagging)?

No. I’ve taught my Mom the basics of reading and helped her understand difficult words. But I haven’t converted people into a reader. Contrary to what people believe, it takes a certain person to love it, and you cannot force it onto anyone.

Describe What Books Mean to You in Five Words.

The calm in my storm.

  1. Lovely answers! I always bring a book with me wherever I go. It just makes me feel so strong (that is such a book addict answer!). I recently downloaded the kindle app on my phone so I can read on my phone rather than bringing the expensive real thing!

  2. I always carry my ebook tablet with me because I’m away from the house so much. It has become pretty suspicious-looking with a slytherin green book-looking cover and I immediately started getting as many questions as if I was carrying a physical book. *Regret* Bookshops are definitely dangerous. Also whaat, are you building a library?? 😍😍

  3. This is such a great post! I relate to so many of your answers.

I definitely own over 200 physical books – probably at least 300. I’m also more of a hard-copy person than an e-reader! Aaaaand bookstore trips are always at least a few hours long. AND AURORA RISING GAAAAH. I still have to read all of Jay Kristoff’s standalone fiction – I’ve only read The Illuminae Files – but I’m so excited to do so!

What work do you do? Talking about books all day long sounds like a dream job 😉
