Top Ten Tuesday | Books from My Favourite Genre

Happy Tuesday!

Am I the only person who’s struggling with the fact that we’re in June? Sure, May was great. But still.

Top Ten Tuesday, originally created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, is a weekly meme. The first topic is books from our favourite genre. I couldn’t pick which one, so I’ve chosen high fantasy and science fiction!

Let me know if you see your favourite! Enjoy.

Caraval Series

I’m about a quarter way through Finale, and I don’t want it to end. I’m not ready. When I picked the author’s debut novel, I never knew I’d love this much. I want my babies to survive. If I’m being frank, if my ships sink, I’m dead with them.

An Ember in the Ashes

Can we have baby Elias back, please? The third book nearly killed me, and I don’t know if I can read the final book. But Sabaa’s first title is my favourite.

Heir of Fire and Queen of Shadows

I don’t think any one of Sarah’s other titles will top these two. Well, ACOMAF will. But I wanted to stay with her first series. The character progression still sends shivers down my back. Rowan may also be another reason. 😉

Would I ever believe I’d love an interplanetary space opera? No, but here it is. Mirage is lyrical, heartbreaking, but hopeful. And I’ll never stop promoting it.

You’d thought I would put the Lunar Chronicles on my list, right? I almost did, but I want to support her latest series. Nova, the morally grey character, has always stuck with me. I cannot wait to see how she handles her dilemma.

Honor Among Thieves

Sentient alien ships, intergalactic war, a badass main character who doesn’t need a man to fight her battles, and stellar writing will entice anyone. It hooked me.

  1. Yeah, I’ve had similar thoughts about June. It feels like 2019 just started and now it’s almost half over. Wow!

    My TTT.

  2. I loved Mirage too! It was so different from every other sci-fi book I had ever read before, it almost didn’t feel like one. More like space fantasy? Anyway, the setting and atmosphere were perfect.
    Great list!

  3. Heir of Fire and Queen of Shadows are the BEST in the series, I must agree! (Yes, Rowan DEFINITELY plays a part in that. I named my child after him. XD) I haven’t finished the Caraval series yet, and I brought home Honor Among Thieves from the library a couple of weeks ago!
    My Top Ten!

  4. I’m probably the only one who will say that Empire of Storms topped my favourites list and not QoS or HoF. Even Tower of Dawn is another favourite, i flew through that book so damn fast that I got super sad haha
