LGBTQ+ Books I Need to Read

Morning, bloggers!

Pride Month is an annual celebration that honors the Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan in 1969. Over the decades, it has transformed into something more.

And while I see my community start its Pride festivities, more gay and trans people are being targeted. In my town, a rainbow crosswalk was vandalized. However, it is rallying around the residents affected. So I want to show my support by highlighting books I’ve been wanting to read.

I hoped to publish my post yesterday, but I wanted to take some time, do more research, and show respect for the titles and authors. So I hope you love this post!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I’d Slay to Get Early

As I write this post, I’d like nothing more than to crawl into the darkest hole this planet has to offer and cry. I just came back from watching Infinity War. And my entire childhood has taken a flying leap off the cliff of agony. So if you don’t hear any spunk in the post, well, you know why.

For this week’s Top Ten Tuesday, created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, we get to talk about books we’d slay to get early. I’ve been waiting to do this post. No, I won’t write about A Court of Frost and Starlight, even though I’d love to. So here are my picks:

King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo

WE HAVE A COVER. Yes, you can scream as much as me. I won’t judge. I’ve been loving Leigh’s Grishaverse, and although I do need to read the first series, I adore her world. And I cannot help but love the pirate king.

Who else is excited about this book?!

Catwoman: Soulstealer by Sarah J. Maas

Yeah, I said I wouldn’t talk about ACOFAS. I never said I’d leave out a Maas book though. This series just gets better after each book. Catwoman is one of my favourite DC characters, so there is no way that I’d miss out on this book.

The Wicked King by Holly Black

The Cruel Prince is one of the most satisfying books I’ve read in a long time. Jude and Cardan are my OTP, and I cannot wait to see how she tricks more faeries and how Cardan will think of a way to get back at her.

Archenemies by Marissa Meyer

I’m not feeling the name, but I want the book. Marissa brings a new twist to superhero books. Yeah, yeah, I should have rated the first book much better than I have, but I need more Nova in my life. And I want to see how she’ll take down the Renegades.

Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare

I love making myself suffer even more. After reading Lord of Shadows, I didn’t think I’d want to pick up the finale in this series. But I’m Shadowhunter trash, and I just love misery. 🙃 With this book though, I don’t think the Blackthornes or any of the Shadowhunter families will get a happy ending

Top Ten Tuesday | Favourite Book Quotes

Another week, another meme! This week’s Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, is interesting. Now given that I am a horribly predictable reader and don’t want to bore you, I’ve decided to pick my favourite quotes from books I haven’t read yet, not from the books I love and have already featured on TTT. I don’t need another reason to talk about ACOMAF even though I always find will do so anyways.

Strange the Dreamer

“And that’s how you go on. You lay laughter over the dark parts. The more dark parts, the more you have to laugh. With defiance, with abandon, with hysteria, any way you can.”

For this quote, I think I can take a good guess that I’ll love Strange the Dreamer. Doesn’t it sound wonderful? I haven’t seen many reviews that criticize Strange. I think I need to read this whimsical book a lot sooner.

A Gathering of Shadows

“Everyone’s immortal until they’re not.”

I adore this series. 😍 I fell in love with the world building in the first book, and I’ve dying to go back to Red London ever since. Plus, I want to see what Lila and Kell are up to.

The Last Namsara

“Then may Death send his worst. Cold to freeze the love in my heart. Fire to burn my memories to ash. Wind to force me through the gates. Time to wear my loyalty away. I’ll wait for you at Death’s gate.”

The Last Namsara has been on my radar since it first came out. And I think with this quote, I’ll have to bump this book up higher on my TBR pile.

Shadow and Bone

“Fine, make me your villain.”

And with just five words, I know I’d love this series. When I was first introduced to Grishaverse, I had no clue what was what, and finding out took much longer (pro tip: don’t skip the first series, or you’ll regret the inevitable spoilers). Then Kaz showed me his devious world, and I’ve been hooked since then.

Throne of Glass

“Libraries were full of ideas—perhaps the most dangerous and powerful of all weapons.”

I actually have the entire series (to date) on my shelf. Have I read it? No. Why not?! Books keep on getting published, and I keep losing the opportunity to do so. 😐 I wonder if which character I’ll prefer: Aelin (yes I already spoiled myself by finding out who she is) or Feyre.

I honestly don’t think that any other character can compare to Rhys though.

Have you read these books? What did you think of them?
