And I feel as if I need about three more days to sleep so I can handle everything. 😂 So since I love procrastinating, I thought I’d work on a new post instead. I found this challenge on Bibliophagist. Sara hasn’t tagged anyone, but I loved her answers. And I thought it looks like fun.

80s Movies Tag

Morning, everyone!

Since I arrived in the last year of the 80s, but I grew up in the 90s, my childhood was a perfect blend of these two generations. So I needed to do this tag, which Ashley from Infinite Library created, when I saw it on Ally Writes Things. Yes, she didn’t tag anyone, but you know my weaknesses.

After reading Sara’s debut novel, I knew Evermore would be at the top of my most anticipated TBR list. There was no way I’d let this sequel pass me by, especially with that whiplash plot twist Sara threw at her readers. So even though I love the journey she takes us on, I feel a bit let down.

Sara is a natural born storyteller. She weaves tales, from past to present, to plot out intriguing worlds. So it pains me to say that I’m disappointed with how the finale turns out. I hate writing this sort of review because I know how difficult creating a novel truly is. Sometimes, though, a sequel simply falls into the second book syndrome and doesn’t carve its own path to originality.

Monthly Wrap-Up: January 2019

 

It feels as if January was a year, not a month. It was the most difficult, challenging, and emotionally draining one. And I just hope February turns out better.

On a personal level, I know I took a hit. A hard one. But on the blogging side, I couldn’t do better. I love all the support everyone has given me over the last year. And I can’t wait for you to see what I’ll be thinking up next for this little blog of mine. So let’s get to my fangirl-filled wrap-up!

Monthly Wrap-Up | December 2018

Morning, book fam!

Who else feels drained from the holidays? I’ve been getting in some solid 10-hour nights, but I still feel exhausted. So I am glad I’m still on my work break, or I couldn’t function properly. Hopefully, for my new year’s resolution, I’ll get back into the blogging swing. I’ve missed talking with all of you.

But Christmas turned out great, and New Year’s Eve just set off a great new start to 2019. Is anyone freaking out over the number of books we need to buy and read this year?

End of the Year Book Tag | 2018

Everything seems to start winding down or speeding up, and I’m feeling both at the moment. I can’t imagine we’re so close to Christmas and the new year, and I still have so much more to accomplish for 2018. But I’m counting down the days for my holiday break, which is definitely needed right now.

I’ve waited for these books for such a long time, but I’m scared to read them, especially QOAAD, which will just bring pain, misery, and tears.

 

What Are Three Books You Want to Read before the End of the Year?

I literally do not have the time to attempt these titles, but I don’t care. I need some binge-reading right now.

 

Is There a Book You Think Could Still Shock You and Become a Favourite of the Year?

You all know I’m a huge fan of historical fiction set in WWII. I’ve read nothing but stellar reviews for this book, and I cannot wait to dive into it.

Top Ten Tuesday | Villains

Happy Tuesday, bloggers!

We have just eight more days until Halloween. I’ve been counting down the days for this prompt. You all know my affinity for awful characters.

Top Ten Tuesday, originally created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, is a weekly meme. Today’s theme is villains! I will never stop loving them. Sometimes, they might be the only reason why I stay with a series and why I pick up the first book. So let’s get my top eight choices.

 

Prince Balekin from The Wicked King

At first, I simply distrusted Balekin, but I never knew of his potential. You’d think I’d select Jude and Cardan for my picks. But no. These two characters are the product of someone’s design. Balekin is on a different level than they are. I can’t believe I rooted for his family.

 

Lifelikes from (Well) Lifel1k3

How can I possibly hate them?! The way Kristoff writes these perfectly flawed yet utterly human-like characters is why. Lifelikes may hold more humanity than us humans, but they scare me. They hold destruction in one hand and salvation in the next. But they’re hellbent on being the masters of their own fate and aren’t afraid of wiping out our race in the process.

 

The Arrons Two Dark Reigns

I haven’t caught up with the series yet, but from the first chapter, I hated the Arron family. They shape Katherine for who she is, and I almost loathe her as much as I do Mirabella. But I don’t blame the sisters for what they must do in order to survive this heinous world. The Arrons, though, still creep me out and infuriate me.

 

Catwoman, Poison Ivy, and Harley Quinn

Yes, you only get a taste of Gotham City Sirens here. But Sarah perfectly captures my three favourite female villains! This terrible trio almost makes Gotham more interesting.

 

Caro from Evermore

Sara may be a debut author, but she knows how to spin the perfect villain. I never expected anything from Caro. But I was so wrong about this character. And as the second book draws closer, I cannot wait to see how she will destroy everything Jules fights for.

 

Cohort from Queen of Air and Darkness

I never thought I’d hate another Shadowhunter as I despised Valentine. But the Cohort holds a special place on my hate list. After the devastation from the last war, select few Shadowhunters form the Cohort and wish to find any means necessary to restrict Downworlders.

 

Mother Blackbeak from Queen of Shadows

I honestly thought I hated her in Heir of Fire. But I want to gut this woman more than you can imagine. I wanted to put Manon in my list, but I don’t see her as much of a villain. Her grandmother still sends chills down my back when I think of her.

 

Legend from Finale

Can we please take a moment to marvel at this cover?! I’m in bliss. I’m still debating this choice. Some part of me wants to scream that he is one, then the other part feels as if he’s misunderstood. Why must villains be so complicated?!

Top Ten Tuesday | Books I Want to Read in the Last Half of 2018

Hello, darlings!

How’s your Tuesday going? I’m finally back in my blogging groove (or so I hope), and I can’t wait to see what your choices are for this week’s topic. Since to date, I’ve read only twenty-seven books, and I read horribly slow sometimes, and my last tag basically covers all the books I’d talk about for this week’s post, I don’t see the point in repeating myself.

So I want to discuss my top picks I’d love to read in the last half of 2018. Let’s get to it!

 

 

Kingdom of Ash

Don’t judge me. I want to get to this series soon. Eventually. SOME TIME OR ANOTHER. I might as well want to read this book since I have the rest of the series. Honestly, though? I like Sarah’s world building and writing. Yes, both are problematic, but I lose myself in her world all the time. And I just want to find out if Aelin makes coffin jokes. If not, I’ll be pissed.

 

Mirage

Royal court, dreamers, science fiction, intergalactic travel, and princesses? Oh, hello, beautiful sci-fi I’ve been hearing all about. I fell in love with this cover, but the story behind is what hooked me in. I need more sci-fi books, so this is one I’ve been looking for!

 

Wildcard

I need to know what happens! Warcross almost ruined me. In a good way. But ruined me nonetheless. I waited too long to read it, but I won’t let that happen again with Wildcard. I just hope Emika and the Phoenix Riders save the day!

And secretly, I need to see how this one looks beside Warcross.

 

Evermore

The cover gods have blessed us with another fantastic masterpiece. Give me a second to look at this glorious cover. Okay. Now, Sara’s debut novel surprised me. Yes, some readers will talk about a slow-paced storyline, but I loved reading Everless. So many tricks kept me wanting more. And my OTP needs to happen, or I’ll just walk away from this series.

 

Muse of Nightmares

I need this cover. Screw the North American edition. I need this one. I need whimsical. I need magic. And I need a dreamer. So of course, I’ll want this sequel. And yes, I haven’t read (or bought) the first book, but you know me. I cannot wait to get to one of Laini’s books!

 

Escaping from Houdini

I haven’t read the first two books, but here I am wanting the third. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I truly don’t. But I’d love to squeeze in more historical YA into my life. I just love how the author incorporates important eras into her writing. I can’t wait to meet her characters!

 

The Loneliest Girl in the Universe

I much prefer the UK cover over the American one. It’s what drew me to the book. But I’ve been eyeing this book for quite awhile when my friend Dana reviewed it. Mix together mystery and suspense with space, and you get this book. I hope to pick up my copy shortly.
