I am so excited for the weekend. My friends and I went to an early viewing of IT: Chapter 2. I jumped, I laughed, and I enjoyed it, even if I wanted nothing more than to burn the clown.

With some stories, you know how they unfold. And that anticipation may kill your love of the novel itself. But others, even if you predict what will happen, arrive in your life at just the right time. While I picked up Grace and Fury, I had no expectations. But what I never envisioned was how I needed to read this book.

Today’s my second stop for Blogoween, and I’m loving each post. We officially have seven, I repeat, seven more days until Halloween. At this stage, I’m contemplating the mandatory horror movie binging and stuffing my face with candy and other goodies I probably shouldn’t eat.

I’m slowly getting through the book. And while I love the Japanese lore and culture, I’m not enjoying it as much as I thought I would. However, Tatsumi, the male main character, may be the saving grace of the book.
I regret not reading this book. I truly do. I never paid attention to the series, and I instantly knew I had to buy it once I finished reading the blurb. How can I pass up a sci-fi where teenagers must learn how to kill others in order to restore balance?
I’ve heard a lot of buzz about this new YA fantasy. I love how this duology is inspired by Asian culture. And I am always down for forbidden magic, especially necromancy.
I can’t stop looking at this cover. It looks perfect beside Strange the Dreamer. I’ve heard nothing but praise about the series, and I cannot wait to get to it!
As a blogger, I hope I don’t spoil readers when they read my reviews. I’ll give just enough details that will tempt them to read it. But naturally, one sci-fi series I wanted to read got spoiled for me. And do I like that it did? No. But reading the reviews have told me I may not have missed out on much.
Kristoff and Kaufman mix together space, corporate war, and a deadly plague to create a beautifully immersive novel. I’m not surprised that most of the books on my Christmas list are written by him. I have some serious catching up to do!
When the Wren Hunt hit Instagram, I knew I want to read it. This new YA fantasy tells a tale of Wren, a 17-year-old Augur, who must find a bring to stop the war between her people and the Judges, who took her and her family’s powers.
I’m still reeling over the ending. I am not worthy of this man’s genius and writing. I truly am not. I wasn’t expecting to fall in love with a Mad Max-meet-Romeo and Juliet science fiction, but Kristoff has a talent of pulling that off.
Every time I walk past this book on my shelf, it’s calling out to me. This YA novel reminds me of The Handmaid’s Tale. It brings a feministic side to court intrigue. I hope I get to read it soon!

How is it the first week of October?! I’m trying to wrap my mind around that. But then again, I’m excited for Halloween to come, so I don’t care. 😂
The first half of September went great. I thought I’d breeze through my TBR pile, and then the dreaded reading slump hit me quicker than I thought was possible. I’m surprised I could finish three books. Don’t you hate when it comes out of nowhere? I just hope Wildcard gets me out of it.
Anyways, let’s get to the post, yes?
Remind me how to complete an actual reading challenge. I failed horribly with my attempt to do Kathy’s Sequel September. 😅 In addition to these ones, I wanted to read three more books, but I couldn’t do it.

Please don’t judge me. Lifel1k3 is the first book from Kristoff I’ve ever read. AND I REGRET EVERYTHING. Now, I’m a follower. I’ll sacrifice my life’s blood to get more of his books. I don’t care.
Imagine Romeo and Juliet set in a post-apocalyptic world where androids show more humanity than some humans. Well, some androids. It wouldn’t be a Kristoff book without mass murder by androids. It’s one of my favourite reads of this year!

Let me remind everyone that I am Catwoman trash. Okay, I’m also Maas trash as well, so this book works out quite well for me. The DC Icons series is getting better with each addition. I love how Maas brings a human touch to the always tough Catwoman and shows us her weaknesses along the way. If you’re looking for some Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn action, I highly recommend.

I wanted to love this prequel. I did. But I struggled hard with it. It took me two weeks to finish reading it. And while I enjoyed it, I didn’t fall in love with it. Maybe I wasn’t in the right mindset. But the Sam and Celaena scenes will haunt me to my dying days. Review will come shortly!
Naturally, I do better buying books than reading them. Indigo Teen sent me over Tracy Banghart’s Grace and Fury. Thank you, Indigo! Finally, I got some hotly anticipated sequels I’ve been wanting to get my hands onto! I need to catch up on my TBR list. I cannot wait to get to this beauties!

Finally! I can breathe. The constant heatwaves just make me want Fall to come sooner. I shouldn’t complain since I’ve just seen the weekend’s temps. 😐 Who’s ready for cozy blankets and sweaters, hot chocolate, scary books, and bonfires? I know I am.

I had a hard time with this post. I wasn’t sure which books to put on my list and which ones to take out. So hopefully, you enjoy it more than I have. 😂 Here are my choices for books I don’t talk much about:
I’ve seen quite a bit of marketing for the book. But I haven’t talked much about it though. I wasn’t sure if I’d read the book, until I won it in an IndigoTeen contest. But the premise of it is one of the most unique concepts I’ve seen lately, so it deserves a bit more attention than it has received.
Yes, since it’s a Schwab book, it’ll receive great marketing. However, I’ve seen several readers hesitate to pick it up since it’s geared toward middle-grade readers. But often times, I’ve found great storylines in MG books. And with that thought, I believe more people should take a risk with Schwab’s latest story.
Black Witch had a solid marketing plan. But some readers were turned off because select reviewers ripped apart this book. Now, I haven’t read it yet, so I can’t back up some adult bloggers’ claims, but I know many people refused to read it, which I find unfortunate. So no one gave the book a chance. But I hope to do so soon so I can see if those claims are true or false. You can find more information about the controversy here.
I wasn’t sure if I’d love the book. The author combines the Salem Witch Trials and Hocus Pocus. And if there’s one thing you should know about me is that I adore that movie. My expectations were high, but I loved the book, even the ending, which is slightly predictable. Unfortunately, since the publication, I haven’t seen many bloggers mention it.
Quite a few readers have compared the book to ACOTAR, and I think that does a disservice to it. When I finally picked it up, I had no expectations, but I haven’t talked about it since. However, I was so pleased with the writing, storytelling, and characters. Unfortunately, it hasn’t moved past that comparison, which is a shame.
I bought this book earlier this year, and while I haven’t read it yet (I need to stop buying books and not reading them), I haven’t seen a lot of love for it. But magical realism is sometimes hard to sell though. Not everyone likes it, and other readers may not even acknowledge this kind of genre. But I’m intrigued to see if it lives up to my expectations.
I haven’t cried so hard reading another book. I found this beauty several, several years ago, and I’ve read it so many times you can see my fingerprints on the book. I’m a historical book lover, and I’ll always fall hard for a story based in WWII. The storyline is heartbreaking, and the stellar cast of characters will stay with you longer than you read the book.
And it deserves all the praise it has received because of the Netflix show. I highly recommend both show and book!
