Three-Day Lyrical Challenge (Take 2 ad Day 3)

Morning, book fam,

Finally, the weekend is here! I’ve needed a break from everyday life. Taylor from Nerd Narration tagged me. And I have had such a blast with this challenge.

Before you get to my post, give her some love and visit her blog!

The rules are simple:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you.
  2. Share one of your favorite song/lyrics one at a time for three days.
  3. Nominate three other bloggers each day.

Today is the final day of the challenge. Over the last few years, my musical taste has changed. And I’m surprised by the songs that interest me and wouldn’t in the past. “Whatever It Takes” is one of those songs.

Falling too fast to prepare for this
Tripping in the world could be dangerous
Everybody circling, it’s vulturous
Negative, nepotist
Everybody waiting for the fall of man
Everybody praying for the end of times
Everybody hoping they could be the one
I was born to run, I was born for this
Whip, whip
Run me like a racehorse
Pull me like a ripcord
Break me down and build me up
I wanna be the slip, slip
Word upon your lip, lip
Letter that you rip, rip
Break me down and build me up
Whatever it takes
‘Cause I love the adrenaline in my veins
I do whatever it takes
‘Cause I love how it feels when I break the chains
Whatever it takes
You take me to the top I’m ready for
Whatever it takes
‘Cause I love the adrenaline in my veins
I do what it takes
Always had a fear of being typical
Looking at my body feeling miserable
Always hanging on to the visual
I wanna be invisible
Looking at my years like a martyrdom
Everybody needs to be a part of ’em
Never be enough, I’m the prodigal son
I was born to run, I was born for this
Whip, whip
Run me like a racehorse
Pull me like a ripcord
Break me down and build me up
I wanna be the slip, slip
Word upon your lip, lip
Letter that you rip, rip
Break me down and build me up
Whatever it takes
‘Cause I love the adrenaline in my veins
I do whatever it takes
‘Cause I love how it feels when I break the chains
Whatever it takes
You take me to the top, I’m ready for
Whatever it takes
‘Cause I love the adrenaline in my veins
I do what it takes
Hypocritical, egotistical
Don’t wanna be the parenthetical, hypothetical
Working onto something that I’m proud of, out of the box
An epoxy to the world and the vision we’ve lost
I’m an apostrophe
I’m just a symbol to remind you that there’s more to see
I’m just a product of the system, a catastrophe
And yet a masterpiece, and yet I’m half-diseased
And when I am deceased
At least I go down to the grave and die happily
Leave the body and my soul to be a part of thee
I do what it takes
Whatever it takes
‘Cause I love the adrenaline in my veins
I do whatever it takes
‘Cause I love how it feels when I break the chains
Whatever it takes
You take me to the top, I’m ready for
Whatever it takes
‘Cause I love the adrenaline in my veins
I do what it takes

Three-Day Lyrical Challenge (Take 2 and Day 2)

Hey, everyone!

Taylor from Nerd Narration tagged me for the challenge. And I am stoked to show you the next song.

Like always, I highly suggest that you take a peek at Taylor’s blog. Her working is amazing!

The rules are simple:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you.
  2. Share one of your favorite song/lyrics one at a time for three days.

Today is the second day of the challenge. I’ve heard of only one song by Kaleo, but I can’t get enough of it. Way Down We Go is one song that gets you pumped up, and I love it.

Father tell me, we get what we deserve
Oh we get what we deserve
And way down we go
Way down we go
Say way down we go
Way down we go
You let your feet run wild
Time has come as we all oh, go down
Yeah but for the fall oh, my
Do you dare to look him right in the eyes?
‘Cause they will run you down, down til the dark
Yes and they will run you down, down til you fall
And they will run you down, down til you go
Yeah so you can’t crawl no more
And way down we go
Way down we go
Say way down we go
‘Cause they will run you down, down til you fall
Way down we go
Oh bab-bab-yeah
Wow baby
Baby
Bab, down we go
Yeah
And way down we go
Way down we go
Say way down we go
Way down we go

Three-Day Lyrical Challenge (Take 2 and Day 1)

Hey, book bloggers!

I’ve been waiting to do this post. Taylor from Nerd Narration tagged me for this challenge. Thank you, Taylor! 💜 I can’t help but agree with her. You all know of my love for books, but not many will realize that music holds a special meaning in my life as well.

Before you get to the rest of my post, check out her blog. Over the last year, I’ve seen Taylor and her blog grow, and I love seeing her posts in my feed.

The rules are simple:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you.
  2. Share one of your favorite song/lyrics one at a time for three days.
  3. Nominate three other bloggers each day.

Today is the first day of the challenge. One thing you should know about me is that I live for Nine Inch Nails. The band, the lyrics, and the emotions behind this music are what keep me fighting. So without much ado, here is one of my favourite NIN titles!

I’ve become impossible holding on to when
When everything seemed to matter more
The two of us
All used and beaten up
Watching fate as it flow down the path we
Have chose
You and me
We’re in this together now
None of them can stop us now
We will make it through somehow
You and me
If the world should break in two
Until the very end of me
Until the very end of you
Awake to the sound as they peel apart the skin
They pick and they pull
Trying to get their fingers in
Well they’ve got to kill what we’ve found
Well they’ve got to hate what we fear
Well they’ve got to make it go away
Well they’ve got to make it disappear
The farther I fall I’m beside you
As lost as I get I will find you
The deeper the wound I’m inside you
For ever and ever I’m a part of
You and me
We’re in
You and me
We’re in this together now
None of them can stop us now
We will make it through somehow
You and me
Even after everything
You’re the queen and I’m the king
Nothing else means anything

Three-Day Lyrical Challenge (Day 3)

Morning, everyone!

I want to thank Sara from Bibliophagist for tagging me. Today’s the last day of the challenge! I’ve had such a blast with this tag, and I can’t wait to see what you all think about my next pick.

The rules are simple:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you.
  2. Share one of your favorite song/lyrics one at a time for three days.
  3. Nominate three other bloggers each day.

Since it’s October, you know I cannot resist finishing off this challenge with a twist. This song is my all-time favourite Halloween song. And naturally, I pick Marilyn Manson for the artist. I hope you enjoy!

Boys and girls of every age
Wouldn’t you like to see something strange?
Come with us and you will see
This, our town of Halloween
This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Pumpkins scream in the dead of night
This is Halloween, everybody make a scene
Trick or treat till the neighbors gonna die of fright
It’s our town, everybody scream
In this town of Halloween
I am the one hiding under your bed
Teeth ground sharp and eyes glowing red
I am the one hiding under your stairs
Fingers like snakes and spiders in my hair
This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!
In this town we call home
Everyone hail to the pumpkin song
In this town, don’t we love it now?
Everybody’s waiting for the next surprise
‘Round that corner, man hiding in the trash can
Something’s waiting no to pounce, and how you’ll
Scream! This is Halloween
Red ‘n’ black, and slimy green
Aren’t you scared?
Well, that’s just fine
Say it once, say it twice
Take a chance and roll the dice
Ride with the moon in the dead of night
Everybody scream, everybody scream
In our town of Halloween!
I am the clown with the tear-away face
Here in a flash and gone without a trace
I am the “who” when you call, “Who’s there?”
I am the wind blowing through your hair
I am the shadow on the moon at night
Filling your dreams to the brim with fright
This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!
Halloween! Halloween!
Tender lumplings everywhere
Life’s no fun without a good scare
That’s our job, but we’re not mean
In our town of Halloween
In this town
Don’t we love it now?
Everybody’s waiting for the next surprise
Skeleton Jack might catch you in the back
And scream like a banshee
Make you jump out of your skin
This is Halloween, everybody scream
Won’t ya please make way for a very special guy
Our man Jack is King of the Pumpkin patch
Everyone hail to the Pumpkin King, now!
This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!
In this town we call home
Everyone hail to the pumpkin song
La la la la la la la la la la (Halloween! Halloween!)
La la la la la la la la la la (Halloween! Halloween!)

Three-Day Lyrical Challenge (Day 1)

Hey, everyone!

I want to thank the lovely Sara from Bibliophagist. 💜 Back in August, she tagged me. And I’ve been meaning to do this post but simply forgot.

The rules are simple:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you.
  2. Share one of your favorite song/lyrics one at a time for three days.
  3. Nominate three other bloggers each day.

Today is day 1 of this challenge, and I can’t wait to start. I rarely talk about my musical love. I typically stay with the literary variety.

Not many people know that I adore Florence + the Machine. Several of her songs have helped me through some tough times. So I’m excited to share my favourite song, Seven Devils. It’s haunting, endearing, and uplifting all at once. I’ll never stop listening to it. I hope you enjoy!

Holy water cannot help you down
Hours and armies couldn’t keep me out
I don’t want your money
I don’t want your crowd
See I have to burn
Your kingdom down
Holy water cannot help you now
See I’ve had to burn your kingdom down
And no rivers and no lakes can put the fire out
I’m gonna raise the stakes, I’m gonna smoke you out
Seven devils all around you
Seven devils in my house
See they were there when I woke up this morning
I’ll be dead before the day is done
Seven devils all around you
Seven devils in your house
See I was dead when I woke up this morning
I’ll be dead before the day is done
Before the day is done
And now all your love will be exorcised
And we will find you saying it’s to be better now
And it’s an even sum
It’s a melody
It’s a battle cry
It’s a symphony
Seven devils all around you
Seven devils in my house
See they were there when I woke up this morning
I’ll be dead before the day is done
Seven devils all around you
Seven devils in your house
See I was dead when I woke up this morning
And I’ll be dead before the day is done
Before the day is done
Before the day is done
Before the day is done
They can keep me high
‘Til I tear the walls
‘Til I save your heart
And I take your soul
And what have we done?
Can I be undone?
In the evil heart
In the evil soul
Seven devils all around you
Seven devils in your house
See I was dead when I woke up this morning
I’ll be dead before the day is done
Before the day is done

Tag Time!

I don’t want anyone to feel obligated to do this tag. If you want to do so, go a head. I’d love to see which lyrics you choose. If not, I’m fine with that as well. And again, if I haven’t tagged you, you can do it either way. I don’t want to exclude anyone.
