The Sunshine Blogger Award (8)

Morning, bloggers!

I’m back! I took needed a much-needed hiatus from the online world and my blog. I didn’t want to spread myself too thin with everything going on, so I took some time off.

I want to thank Misty from Misty’s Book Space for nominating me! Please give her some love, yes?

What is the Sunshine Blogger Award?

The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to those who are creative, positive and inspiring while spreading sunshine to the blogging community.

The Rules:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.
  • Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award in your post/or on your blog.

Misty’s Questions

What was the last book you strongly disliked?

The Girl the Sea Gave Back didn’t sit well with me. I wanted to love it. And while I enjoyed it, I think my expectations were a tad too high for what I read.

How does your star rating system work for your reviews (if you use one)?

5 star: Loved it

4: Liked it a lot, but had a few issues

3: Liked it, but had several issues

2: Didn’t like since it had many problems

1: Hated it

What are your favorite pizza toppings?

Pepperoni, onions, red and green peppers, and sausage! Sometimes, I enjoy some pineapple (fight me)

Would you rather read a great plot with mediocre characters, or a boring plot with amazing characters?

Oh no, not this question. Okay, I’ll pick amazing characters.

How many books are you currently reading, and which one is your favorite so far?

I’m currently reading one e-ARC. But my last favourite is Broken Wings! I love me some dark high school romance.

What was the last book review you posted?

HAHA. I’ve been in a review slump since August. But the last one is DEV1AT3.

Do you prefer MG, YA, NA, or adult books?

I’m starting to prefer NA and adult more than anything lately. But I adore YA though.

Is there a popular author you’re NOT interested in reading anything by? (Elaborate if you’re comfortable doing so!)

Tomi Adeyemi and Justina Ireland are at the top of my list. Tomi attacked Nora Roberts, and Justina attacked Asian women. Need I say more?

What marginalized rep would you most strongly like to see more of in books?

I would love more mental illness rep. Unfortunately, I don’t see a lot of it though. But it needs to be done properly though. Making fun of mental health or not representing it correctly will hurt readers.

Do you listen to music while reading?

No, I cannot. If I do, I’ll find myself humming to the song, not reading the book.

Do you prefer book twitter or bookstagram?

Bookstagram, which I’m not involved in. Book Twitter is a bit too…psychotic.

My Questions

  1. What was the last book that made you cozy warm?
  2. What marginalized rep would you most strongly like to see more of in books?
  3. What was the last book you couldn’t finish?
  4. Who’s your new favourite character?
  5. Do you like spooky books?
  6. What’s your most recent scary read?
  7. What are you planning to be for Halloween?
  8. What is your favourite age category (MG, YA, NA, etc.)
  9. What most recently published book are you worried in reading?
  10. What’s your guilty reading pleasures?
  11. Do you prefer book twitter or bookstagram?

Sunshine Blogger Award (6)

Morning, everyone!

You don’t know how much I needed to step away from everything and just dedicate some real time to reading. My life is beyond stressful, so I needed that time away. Have you ever felt the same?

I want to thank Meeghan from Meeghan Reads for nominating me! Darling, I love you. And don’t you dare skip over her blog. Head over now and give her love.

What is the Sunshine Blogger Award?

The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to those who are creative, positive and inspiring while spreading sunshine to the blogging community.

Meeghan’s Questions

Which fictional character best displays your values?

A mix between Aelin and Manon, which may be a bad combination.

What is your favourite book you’ve read so far this year, and why?

Sunshine and Bullets may be at the top of my list. But so is The Gilded Wolves. For the former, even if it had some flaws, I fell hard for it. It’s a darkly twisted reverse harem. But I breezed through it in about twenty-four hours. For the latter, Roshani created such a rich, detailed, and unique storyline that resonates with me.

What is your favourite book-to-movie adaptation?

I might have to say White Oleander. I watched the movie before I read the book. But both are authentic. I don’t know why I keep coming back to it, but it came into my life at the right time.

Which fictional character do you think would be the most boring to meet in real life?

I’m sorry to say that Clary from TMI and Alina from the Grisha Trilogy would be it. Both of them are whiny.

What is one thing you do to unwind?

Finding a quiet place to listen to music, even instrumental, seems to calm me down most of the time.

If you could pick any author to write a fairytale retelling, who would you pick and which fairytale?

I’d love for Marissa Meyer to do a sci-fi retelling of Beauty and the Beast. I’m not sure if I’d want it in the Lunar Chronicles, but I’d be thrilled if it were.

What’s the best book title you’ve ever heard of?

I love Sorcery of Thorns, House of Salt and Sorrows, and Likel1k3!

Who is your OTP or bookish BFF?

I do not have enough time to list off most of my OTPs. I’d be here all night. But honestly, if I were friends with Magnus Bane, I’d probably be ecstatic.

If you could control one element (earth, air, fire or water), which would you choose?

Duh, fire, of course. If I would control lightning, I’d take that.

Who is your favourite fictional animal? (i.e., not just dragons, but Kozu from The Last Namsara)

I’ll never stop loving Abraxos. He smells flowers. Really, how can I not adore him?!

What is your favourite way to treat yourself?

I used to hate shopping by myself. But I’ve grown to love it though. When I need some time by myself, I’ll head to my local Indigo and just spend as much time as I need there.

My Questions

  1. How many unread books do you own?
  2. Which one do you want to read next?
  3. Which book you don’t understand why so many people love it?
  4. What series do you not want to finish for whatever reason?
  5. Which author has disappointed you the most? Why?
  6. What fictional world do you think you’d survive there the longest?
  7. If you could write a retelling, what one would it be?
  8. Which book reminds you of your favourite season/holiday?
  9. If you could meet any author, even if you’re afraid to meet said person, who would it be?
  10. What book-to-move adaptations are you anticipating the most?
  11. When do you know to quit a book?

Taylor’s Questions

What is one of your favourite book quotes?

“I will have you without armor, Kaz Brekker. Or I will not have you at all.” —Inej, Six of Crows

If you won a free plane ticket anywhere in the world where would it take you and what is the FIRST thing you’d do there?

Scotland. I want to see where my family originated from.

What is your favorite underrated/under reviewed book?

What celebrity would cause death by fangirling if you got to meet them on the street?

I think I would die happy if I saw Tom Hiddleston dressed up as Loki. I’d pet him before I let myself die though.

What is your favorite 2018 read — so far?

I LOVE MY LITTLE DARK BABIES

What is the last band you saw in concert?

HA. I’ve been to only two concerts, so I’ll say Jack’s Mannequin.

What’s the last book that made you cry?

I’m getting to the good stuff, and I’m all weepy. Someone smack me, please. 😭

What’s the current most played track on your Spotify/Apple Music/iTunes playlist? No cheating!

You may laugh at this, but it’s the Avengers: Infinity War teaser trailer track.

If you were going to get a tattoo based off a book what would you get and why?

I would take a quote from the Throne of Glass series. I never thought I’d relate to a character as much as I do with Aelin.

What’s your favorite meal? Your go-to dinner if money wasn’t an option.

There was an old pizza joint in town. And it made the best panzerotti I’ve ever tasted. You don’t know how much money I’d spend just to have another bite of it.

Who’s your fictional crush and who would you cast IRL to play them?

*crushes (help me)

Thorne from the Lunar Chronicles. Honestly, I’d be perfectly fine commandeering stuff and flying around the Earth. 😂
