The Unpopular Opinions Book Tag

Morning, book fam!

Let’s start the week off with a great tag. I’ve already had to move around this week’s schedule so many times that I’m not sure what day I’m supposed to do what. But hey, at least I got the post done. 😂

And of course, I’d forget where I found the tag, but it was floating around somewhere. And you all know my affinity for these posts. So I hope you enjoy!

Veronica Roth

Publication Date: January 17, 2017

Extent: 480 pages

On a planet where violence and vengeance rule, in a galaxy where some are favored by fate, everyone develops a currentgift, a unique power meant to shape the future. While most benefit from their currentgifts, Akos and Cyra do not—their gifts make them vulnerable to others’ control. Can they reclaim their gifts, their fates, and their lives, and reset the balance of power in this world?

Cyra is the sister of the brutal tyrant who rules the Shotet people. Cyra’s currentgift gives her pain and power—something her brother exploits, using her to torture his enemies. But Cyra is much more than just a blade in her brother’s hand: she is resilient, quick on her feet, and smarter than he knows.

Akos is from the peace-loving nation of Thuvhe, and his loyalty to his family is limitless. Though protected by his unusual currentgift, once Akos and his brother are captured by enemy Shotet soldiers, Akos is desperate to get his brother out alive—no matter what the cost. When Akos is thrust into Cyra’s world, the enmity between their countries and families seems insurmountable. They must decide to help each other to survive—or to destroy one another.

Why Am I Waiting?

Since someone on the net decided to blurt out what happens in Allegiant, I skipped the entire series. But I’ve wanted to read Veronica’s work for quite some time, so I was stoked to hear she was working on a new book. And given this book has a not-from-Earth feel to it, I’m intrigued. It sounds like a mix between Romeo and Juliet and Star Wars. And hopefully Veronica can blend the two together.

Secretly, I hope that there is some galactic war (give it to me to wish for that) and intergalactic travel. I haven’t read many stories based in space or different galaxies. I’m definitely in need of space books (so if you have any recommendations, send them my way!).

And look at that cover! The gold and the navy blue. I love it.

Here is the book’s first look on Amazon CAN and Amazon US.
