The Liebster Award

Morning, bloggers!

Brittany from Perfectly Tolerable recently nominated me! I loved reading her post and answers and knew I had to do this post. Go check out her blog!

Rules:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you, provide a link to their blog and display the award
  • Answer 11 questions that they asked you
  • Come up with 11 questions of your own
  • Tag 11 bloggers and don’t forget to let them know

Brittany’s Questions

How many pets do you have? If you don’t have any, do you want some? (Pictures always appreciated!!!)

I currently have one. He looks after me when I sick or sad. He makes my mornings better (and louder since we have yelling matches 😂). And he gave me hope when I needed it the most.

What was the last movie you saw in the theatre?

Venom! I went into the theatre, thinking I’d hate the movie. But I enjoyed it, especially the elevator scene.

What is your favourite book trope?

Enemy-to-lovers and villains doing good things/heroes doing terrible acts

What is your least favourite book trope?

Burying gay characters. Please, authors, stop doing this. Sure, you can put them in dangerous situations, but at least give them a fighting chance, especially if they’re the only gay person.

Coffee or Tea?

I can’t stand either. I hate the smell and the taste of coffee, and tea sometimes tastes like potpourri. 😂 And yes, it takes me a while to wake up.

What is your favourite Genre and why?

I love high fantasy. I love exploring different worlds that don’t match our own.

What is your favourite type of blog post to write?

I love writing book tags. I get to understand my followers and the bloggers I follow more.

What is your favourite type of blog post to read?

Lists and discussion posts! I always find new books to read with the former.

If you were given $30 to spend on a book today, what book would you buy?

Either Nevernight or the collector’s edition of Six of Crows.

Would you be excited or weary if you found out your favourite book was being made into a movie?

I have two series that will be turned into a movie and a TV show. I’m nervous as hell right now!

Are there any songs that make you think of certain books or scenes from books? If so, which songs/books?

Seven Devils by Florence + the Machine reminds me of A Court of Thorns and Roses, and Poison & Wine by The Civil Wars reminds me of the Red Queen series.

My Questions

  1. If there is one trope you could get rid of, which is it?
  2. Which is a problematic book/series you love?
  3. Which character do you despise the most?
  4. What series do you want to see adapted?
  5. What is your most anticipated read for 2018?
  6. Which book do you wish you can read for the first time again?
  7. Which pet in a series do you love the most?
  8. Is there an author you can’t stand?
  9. What is your favourite bookish merchandise?
  10. What series would you love to throw into a fire?
  11. If you could do a crossover series, which two series would you combine?

The Versatile Blogger Award

Hey, everyone!

How’s your long weekend looking? I finally feel like myself after Fan Expo. I never knew I could walk that much, but my feet say otherwise. 😲

I’ve never done this award before. Leslie from Books Are the New Black nominated me. You need to check out her blog. You’re in for a treat.

Thank you, Leslie! 💜😘

The rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you
  • Leave a link to their blog
  • Tell us 7 things about yourself
  • Nominate 15 bloggers/bloggers you’ve discovered recently or follow regularly

Seven Things about Me

  1. I’ve almost died three times. I practically lived in my local ER/hospital because I was always sick.
  2. Since I had a speech impediment when I was young, I hated public speaking. I couldn’t do that part of an assignment, and I certainly can’t do it now.
  3. I’m a marketing and publicity intern at a small Canadian press. Getting this internship took me years. I actually mean that. I couldn’t believe that I got it, and I’m so lucky that I have.
  4. I may have half-siblings, but I don’t see them as family. Over the years, I found mine through friends, and they’re more of a family than my own blood.
  5. I don’t like peacocks. I had one stalk and chase me. And ever since then, I can’t look at one without having a “flight” moment. They may be pretty, but they are dangerous.
  6. I hate when books show up damaged. My collection is basically pristine. And when I see a book damaged, I cry a little inside.
  7. I swore off getting another cat when my first pet, Tobi, died. It took me years to get over that loss. However, I found this little guy walking in my neighbour’s driveway, whistled at him, then fed him when he followed me home. And he just walked right into my family’s life. Literally, he just walked through our front door and occasionally knocked on it when the rain came. Bud, my stray-turned-pet, has captured my heart. He’s a fighter like me, and I adore this little man. ISN’T HE CUTE?! 😍

The Unique Blogger Award (3)

Happy Friday, everyone!!!

JoBeth from Blue Binding nominated me for this award. Thank you so much for this, JoBeth! You just made my weekend!

Be sure to check out her blog.

Rules:

  • Display the award
  • Thank the person who nominated you and post a link to their blog on your blog
  • Answer the questions they’ve written for you
  • Nominate 8-13 bloggers and give them three questions in the spirit of sharing love and solidarity within our blogging family!

JoBeth’s Questions

If you could meet with any author (living or dead), who would you choose?

I heard authors. Did you? Okay, here are my three picks:

Leigh Bardugo: I’ve connected with her and her work so much that I feel I need to pay thanks in person. She has an unbelievable strength for what she goes through and what she accomplishes, and I adore her.

Sabaa Tahir: This woman made me love fantasy again. And she taught tolerance in a world that is hellbent on hot seeing it.

Marissa Meyer: She may be my newest favourite, but I love her nonetheless!

What is your favourite dessert?

It’s almost midnight, and now I can’t stop thinking about dessert (thank you, btw) 😂 Jello is by far my favourite. It got me through some rough parts of my life, and it made parts of my life sweeter (enjoy the pun).

What is your favourite childhood book or story?

I used to love the Goosebump stories. They’ve played such a huge role in my love of fantasy that I couldn’t

My Questions

1. Which author would you love to co-write a book with?

2. If you could only read books from five authors for the rest of your life, who would you choose? (stole this one)

3. Which genre do you like the least?

My Nominations

You know I have to show my love with you all. So I’ll nominate you. If you’ve already done this award, don’t feel like you need to do it. If you do though, link me to your post! I’d love to see your responses!

The Unique Blogger Award (2)

Hello, darlings!

I truly need to stop working on my blog so late at night. One time, I might actually get a review done, not push it back to the next day. 😂

The amazing Bibi nominated me for this award. You guys are too good to me, you know that?! When I see these kinds of noms show up in my notifications, I want to hug you all. Clearly, you need to follow her blog, so go check it out!

THE RULES:

  • Share the link of the blogger who nominated you
  • Answer their questions
  • Share some love with the blogging community by nominating 8-12 people
  • Ask three questions for your nominees

Bibi’s Questions

How do you decide what book you will read next?

And you have started the first question off with a hard one. And here I thought this post would be easy. 😂 Typically, I plan which books I want to read throughout the month. So I want to read the recently released books immediately. However, I’ve been indecisive about which book to pick up lately. I’ve changed my mind three times this week just so I would stick with reading A Reaper at the Gates.

If you had to build your own harem, which 3-5 book loves would you choose? You can only pick one per book.

Yessss, someone finally asks me this question! And I find another harem reader (wow, that sounds horrible). I am not a hornball. I swear.

  • Thorne from Lunar Chronicles. My smol baby just breaks my heart every time I read about him!
  • Cassian from A Court of Thorns and Roses. That man is godly, and I’d probably whimper at the sight of him. And evidently, I have a thing for winged men.
  • Kaz from Six of Crows. The man owns my heart.
  • Elias from A Reaper at the Gates. MY CINNAMON ROLL IS PRECIOUS. Why wouldn’t I have him on this list?!
  • Elian from To Kill a Kingdom. I need a pirate in my life, and he is gorgeous, devious, and ruthless.

What’s your favourite kind of blog post to write and why?

I love writing discussion posts. They allow me to interact with more bloggers and see what their thoughts are on a particular topic. And I just love debating about books. So it works for me.

Right now, I’m working on one that talks about supporting bloggers in minorities and with disabilities, which I’m excited to finish!

My Questions

  1. When do you know that you should give up on a series you may not like but feel like you need to read ( for bragging rights)?
  2. Which beloved book couple do you hate the most? Why?
  3. Which book are you anticipating the most to read?

My Nominations!

Muahaha, now I get to pick my victims. 😈
