Sunshine Blogger Award (6)

Morning, everyone!

You don’t know how much I needed to step away from everything and just dedicate some real time to reading. My life is beyond stressful, so I needed that time away. Have you ever felt the same?

I want to thank Meeghan from Meeghan Reads for nominating me! Darling, I love you. And don’t you dare skip over her blog. Head over now and give her love.

What is the Sunshine Blogger Award?

The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to those who are creative, positive and inspiring while spreading sunshine to the blogging community.

  • Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.

Meeghan’s Questions

Which fictional character best displays your values?

A mix between Aelin and Manon, which may be a bad combination.

What is your favourite book you’ve read so far this year, and why?

Sunshine and Bullets may be at the top of my list. But so is The Gilded Wolves. For the former, even if it had some flaws, I fell hard for it. It’s a darkly twisted reverse harem. But I breezed through it in about twenty-four hours. For the latter, Roshani created such a rich, detailed, and unique storyline that resonates with me.

What is your favourite book-to-movie adaptation?

I might have to say White Oleander. I watched the movie before I read the book. But both are authentic. I don’t know why I keep coming back to it, but it came into my life at the right time.

Which fictional character do you think would be the most boring to meet in real life?

I’m sorry to say that Clary from TMI and Alina from the Grisha Trilogy would be it. Both of them are whiny.

What is one thing you do to unwind?

Finding a quiet place to listen to music, even instrumental, seems to calm me down most of the time.

If you could pick any author to write a fairytale retelling, who would you pick and which fairytale?

I’d love for Marissa Meyer to do a sci-fi retelling of Beauty and the Beast. I’m not sure if I’d want it in the Lunar Chronicles, but I’d be thrilled if it were.

What’s the best book title you’ve ever heard of?

I love Sorcery of Thorns, House of Salt and Sorrows, and Likel1k3!

Who is your OTP or bookish BFF?

I do not have enough time to list off most of my OTPs. I’d be here all night. But honestly, if I were friends with Magnus Bane, I’d probably be ecstatic.

If you could control one element (earth, air, fire or water), which would you choose?

Duh, fire, of course. If I would control lightning, I’d take that.

Who is your favourite fictional animal? (i.e., not just dragons, but Kozu from The Last Namsara)

I’ll never stop loving Abraxos. He smells flowers. Really, how can I not adore him?!

What is your favourite way to treat yourself?

I used to hate shopping by myself. But I’ve grown to love it though. When I need some time by myself, I’ll head to my local Indigo and just spend as much time as I need there.

My Questions

  1. How many unread books do you own?
  2. Which one do you want to read next?
  3. Which book you don’t understand why so many people love it?
  4. What series do you not want to finish for whatever reason?
  5. Which author has disappointed you the most? Why?
  6. What fictional world do you think you’d survive there the longest?
  7. If you could write a retelling, what one would it be?
  8. Which book reminds you of your favourite season/holiday?
  9. If you could meet any author, even if you’re afraid to meet said person, who would it be?
  10. What book-to-move adaptations are you anticipating the most?
  11. When do you know to quit a book?

Mystery Blogger Award (Take 2)

I need to catch up on my posts sitting in my draft pile, or I’ll never get to them. Don’t you hate that? Anyways, Sara from Bibliophagist nominated me a long while ago, and I thought today is the best day to finally get to award. Thank you, Sara!

Here are my top three favourite posts:

  1. Addressing Sexual Assault in YA Books
  2. Badass Female Leads Deserve Equal Respect as Males
  3. Support Bloggers of Minorities and with Disabilities

Three Facts about Me

  1. I have horrible stage fright. I cannot for the life of me do presentations without wanting to throw up. My speech impediment, which isn’t noticeable anymore, turned me this way.
  2. I’m afraid of getting a bad sore throat. When I was young, I kept getting tonsillitis, and for a good year, I was put in antibiotics until I went in for the surgery. Since then, I freak out when I get it.
  3. I have a thing for threes. So I arrange things in three, I buy things in three (except for books, or I’d be broke).

Sara’s Questions

What’s your favorite mythical creature?

Dragons! Hands down, I adore dragons. I cannot get enough of them.

What’s your go-to order at a coffee shop?

I love getting muffins, especially chocolate chip or blueberry. And I usually finish it off with a cold lemonade.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?

I have so many places, but I’d love to live in Alaska. But I’m not sure if I’d love the bugs though.

Sweet, salty, or sour snacks?

I like all three, actually. But I prefer the first two though.

Would you rather say everything on your mind or never speak again?

HA, one thing you’ll learn quickly of me is that I do not have a filter, so I clearly say whatever is on my mind. However, if I become too quiet, especially if I’m angry, that’s when you should be concerned.

Morning, bloggers!

Brittany from Perfectly Tolerable recently nominated me! I loved reading her post and answers and knew I had to do this post. Go check out her blog!

  • Answer 11 questions that they asked you
  • Come up with 11 questions of your own
  • Tag 11 bloggers and don’t forget to let them know

Brittany’s Questions

How many pets do you have? If you don’t have any, do you want some? (Pictures always appreciated!!!)

I currently have one. He looks after me when I sick or sad. He makes my mornings better (and louder since we have yelling matches 😂). And he gave me hope when I needed it the most.

What was the last movie you saw in the theatre?

Venom! I went into the theatre, thinking I’d hate the movie. But I enjoyed it, especially the elevator scene.

What is your favourite book trope?

Enemy-to-lovers and villains doing good things/heroes doing terrible acts

What is your least favourite book trope?

Burying gay characters. Please, authors, stop doing this. Sure, you can put them in dangerous situations, but at least give them a fighting chance, especially if they’re the only gay person.

Coffee or Tea?

I can’t stand either. I hate the smell and the taste of coffee, and tea sometimes tastes like potpourri. 😂 And yes, it takes me a while to wake up.

What is your favourite Genre and why?

I love high fantasy. I love exploring different worlds that don’t match our own.

What is your favourite type of blog post to write?

I love writing book tags. I get to understand my followers and the bloggers I follow more.

What is your favourite type of blog post to read?

Lists and discussion posts! I always find new books to read with the former.

If you were given $30 to spend on a book today, what book would you buy?

Either Nevernight or the collector’s edition of Six of Crows.

Would you be excited or weary if you found out your favourite book was being made into a movie?

I have two series that will be turned into a movie and a TV show. I’m nervous as hell right now!

Are there any songs that make you think of certain books or scenes from books? If so, which songs/books?

Seven Devils by Florence + the Machine reminds me of A Court of Thorns and Roses, and Poison & Wine by The Civil Wars reminds me of the Red Queen series.

My Questions

  1. If there is one trope you could get rid of, which is it?
  2. Which is a problematic book/series you love?
  3. Which character do you despise the most?
  4. What series do you want to see adapted?
  5. What is your most anticipated read for 2018?
  6. Which book do you wish you can read for the first time again?

The Versatile Blogger Award

Hey, everyone!

How’s your long weekend looking? I finally feel like myself after Fan Expo. I never knew I could walk that much, but my feet say otherwise. 😲

I’ve never done this award before. Leslie from Books Are the New Black nominated me. You need to check out her blog. You’re in for a treat.

Thank you, Leslie! 💜😘

The rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you
  • Leave a link to their blog
  • Tell us 7 things about yourself
  • Nominate 15 bloggers/bloggers you’ve discovered recently or follow regularly

Seven Things about Me

  1. I’ve almost died three times. I practically lived in my local ER/hospital because I was always sick.
  2. Since I had a speech impediment when I was young, I hated public speaking. I couldn’t do that part of an assignment, and I certainly can’t do it now.
  3. I’m a marketing and publicity intern at a small Canadian press. Getting this internship took me years. I actually mean that. I couldn’t believe that I got it, and I’m so lucky that I have.
  4. I may have half-siblings, but I don’t see them as family. Over the years, I found mine through friends, and they’re more of a family than my own blood.
  5. I don’t like peacocks. I had one stalk and chase me. And ever since then, I can’t look at one without having a “flight” moment. They may be pretty, but they are dangerous.
  6. I hate when books show up damaged. My collection is basically pristine. And when I see a book damaged, I cry a little inside.
  7. I swore off getting another cat when my first pet, Tobi, died. It took me years to get over that loss. However, I found this little guy walking in my neighbour’s driveway, whistled at him, then fed him when he followed me home. And he just walked right into my family’s life. Literally, he just walked through our front door and occasionally knocked on it when the rain came. Bud, my stray-turned-pet, has captured my heart. He’s a fighter like me, and I adore this little man. ISN’T HE CUTE?! 😍
